Cleo is very much a human who has navigated many challenges and continues to do so. This lived experience, combined with a Master's degree in psychotherapy and counselling, over 20 years in the caring professions, and teaching roles in the Masters of Social Work (Flinders University) and Masters of Counselling and Psychotherapy (University of Adelaide) programs, equips Cleo to support people in ‘rising from the ashes’ of their pain and struggles.
Cleo loves being outdoors whenever possible, including when working with people, and uses these opportunities to incorporate nature into the therapeutic process through art, mindfulness, and discussion.
Cleo works flexibly with each person to explore what they wish to achieve in therapy, using well-researched approaches to achieve them. These approaches include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), considered a ‘third wave’ cognitive therapy; Art Therapies, including Interactive Drawing Therapy (IDT); and Emotion-Focused Therapy. All approaches are underpinned by Attachment Theory and Person-Centered Therapy, with a trauma-informed approach to ensure safe work and effective communication.
